It’s a Magical World
In a new Hogwarts Legacy trailer made for the PlayStation 5, Avalanche Software confirms exclusive new controller features that makes adequate use of the Dualsense haptic feedback.
The PS5’s Dualsense will allow the spells that the players cast with their in-game wands to produce special haptic feedback that is set to “let the Dualsense become an extension of the wand”. According to the trailer, the controller’s tension will increase in the hands of the player as they cast more advanced spells.
“We’ve specifically isolated these effects to the right side of the controller to let the DualSense become an extension of the wand you hold in the game,” said Chandler Wood, WB Games Avalanche community manager. “And when you deflect a spell with Protego, you’ll feel the sizzling of the magic being reflected and absorbed by the Shield Charm.”
Both the Dualsese’s haptic feedback and the adaptive triggers will be in full use even outside of combat areas, including when players are flying on a broomstick in a quidditch field or when creating potions in class. The controller’s lights will also change color according to the player’s house of choice, Green for Slytherin, Yellow for Hufflepuff, Scarlet for Gryffindor, and Blue for Ravenclaw.
WB Games is also releasing DC’s Gotham Knights this year on October 25, 2022. The game is developed by WB Montreal and is set to feature Nightwing, Redhood, Batgirl, and Robin as they team up and look for the truth behind Batman’s death.
Hogwarts Legacy is set to release in the holiday season of 2022 for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, as well as PC.
