Retro Meets Modern FPS
The time has come. Load your weapons, strap on your chainsaw leg, and get ready for action. Today Apogee Entertainment announced that their cyberpunk FPS, Turbo Overkill, has officially come to Steam Early Access. A press release provides more details about what the game has brought with it into Early Access, as well as what players can expect. Additionally the games Developer, Trigger Happy Interactive, has one of it’s leaders share their thoughts.
Turbo Overkill places players in the kick-ass boots of Johnny Turbo. Johnny, a cybernetically enhanced human, has come home to a cyberpunk Hellscape known as Paradise. However, he soon discovers a rogue A.I named Syn has taken over paradise. Now, it’s up to Johnny to cut through the augmented hordes at Syn’s beck-and-call. But don’t worry, Johnny’s got some augmentations himself.
Blending a mix of retro and modern graphics Turbo Overkill combines highspeed gunplay with branching upgrades. Of course, there are the classic weapon choices of guns. However, players can also use a grappling hook, a chainsaw leg, arm rocket launchers, and so much more. All of these concepts mix together to let you figure out how you want to destroy your enemies. The Early Access gives player eight dense levels to experiment on. Additionally, the game arrives with tons of character upgrades, weapons, and more.
“To this day, the classic shooters I grew up on are still masterclasses in tight, focused design.” Says Sam Prebble, one half of Trigger Happy Interactive, “I can’t wait to see how players and their badass creativity blow my levels wide open.”
Turbo Overkill is out now on Steam Early Access. Currently the game costs $19.95. So, are you ready to shoot, hack, and slash, your way through a cyberpunk Hell?
