Na-na-na-na Na-na-na-na Hey Hey Hey, Goodbye
Bethesda will be doing away with their Bethesda.net Launcher next month. Games from the developer often used this launcher if players didn’t want to use Steam or the Epic Games Launcher. However, Bethesda has finally decided to let it go and have their users migrate to Steam.
The Bethesda.net Launcher will be officially going offline on May 11th, but you can transfer your data over to Steam starting on April 27th. What exactly does that mean to “transfer your data over”? Basically, all your games you own in the Bethesda Launcher will now be available in your Steam library and launched through that app.
Most games’ saved data will automatically migrate along with the game, but some of them will require manual transfer. There are step-by-step instructions available from Bethesda for those such instances.
For Fallout 76 players who currently use the Bethesda.net Launcher, you can get some rewards for migrating before May 11th. If you transfer your information over anytime between April 27th and May 10th, you will be awarded 10 ranks on the Season 9 scoreboard. When Season 9 begins in June, you will get a head start on those items and bonuses.
Once you make the switch, that doesn’t mean you should close your Bethesda.net Account. Live titles, like Fallout 76 will still require access to that account. It’s just the launcher that’s going away, not the service as a whole. Unfortunately, if you prefer other launchers, like the Epic Games Launcher, you will not be able to migrate to anywhere other than Steam.
You might as well get it over with and do it now. The Bethesda.net Launcher will be no more starting on May 11th, but you can migrate to Steam starting on April 27th.
