Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Will Launch With Crossplay, Even on PlayStation

[Checks Outside for Flying Pigs]

In a couple of weeks, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will be coming out for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has announced that the game will launch with crossplay, which is a big deal and not at the same time.

Crossplay was something the development team strived for when Borderlands 3 came out. However, it took almost two years for that to be implemented. Even still, PS4 and PS5 does not support crossplay. Sony is infamously resistant to crossplay, with special exceptions to games like Call of Duty and Fortnite.

Again, big deal and not that big a deal, it is strange that Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will have crossplay support between all platforms at launch. On one hand, we are at a point where it should totally be a standard thing, but with PlayStation onboard, it seems like a miracle. Hey, we’ll take it. Hopefully, this will be a first step in getting Sony to loosen up with crossplay. Even if it is just with 2K titles for now.

Much of the reasoning behind their stringent crossplay policies have to do with how much of a game’s player-base is on PlayStation. If those requirements are not met, publishers often have to pay a fee for crossplay to Sony. Hopefully, they will be stepping away from that policy.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will be coming out on March 25th for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
