Overwatch 2 PC Beta Will Start in Late April

Overwatch 2 PC Beta Starts Late Next Month

Overwatch 2 is Blizzard’s long-awaited sequel to the team-based hero shooter. Fortunately for fans who have long been waiting for its launch, devs are launching its PvP beta sometime in late April.

The sequel has been hyped up for its inclusion of PvE gameplay. However, devs have confirmed that the closed beta will only feature PvP.

“Today’s change and approach enables us to delivery frequent PvP content tot he live game with the goal of far-exceeding Overwatch’s previous rate of content release and making the live game the most vibrant and dynamic PvP experience everywhere,” said Game Director Aaron Keller.

Keller has revealed to the gaming public that they decided on “decoupling” the PvP and PvE content. They expect this will give the Overwatch 2 team more time to work on PvE. At the same time, they are able to get the PvP content to their fans sooner than later.

It remains unclear if this announcement confirms that Overwatch 2 will actually release in some form this year. However, it does confirm that players can get their hands on the game’s new PvP.

A closed alpha for the game begins today. It will include “Blizzard employees, Overwatch League pros, and a few other select groups.” They are releasing the PC beta in late April. Thankfully, fans can sign up for that right now.

This closed beta will include a larger group of testers who will ask to provide gameplay feedback,” devs wrote in a blog post. “Our goal for this phase is to test our new features, content, and systems before we shit to stress-testing the servers with a wider player base in the future beta tests.”

According to the Overwatch 2 devs, today’s announcement is their “first step” towards increasing their communication with their fan base.
