There are so many Star Wars projects which are up and coming, including several movies and series. However, they have nothing on the number of Star Wars video games that are soon to be releasing. Coming from different genres and multiple publishers, the current Star Wars game selection is extensive and there is something for everyone, from long-time fans to the younger generation.
Star Wars’ popularity has extended to not only the movies released but also to merchandise, board games, video games such as Star Wars Squadrons released in 2020 and the famous Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order released in 2019, and there was even a Star Wars slot machine by IGT. Star Wars Jedi sequel
One of the most anticipated games to be released is the Star Wars Jedi sequel. This game is being developed by the Respawn Entertainment and directed by Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order lead, Stig Asmussen. The previous game was an incredible success despite it being single-player and containing no microtransaction. The new sequel will be coming soon this year.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
This game got delayed several times which makes it a highly ambitious yet highly awaited game. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is an adaptation of every Star Wars movie, starting with Anakin’s origins in Episode I and going all the way to The Rise of Skywalker. This game is not a remastered version of other Lego games but rather a new game built from the ground up. A definite must-play!
Respawn’s Star Wars FPS
A new first-person Star Wars game will soon be launched, coming from Respawn Entertainment. Not a lot of information has been released from the game yet, but we know that Peter Hirschmann is the director. This same director has worked on several Star Wars games, including the original LucasArts Battlefront titles, Lego games, The Force Unleashed, and other shooters like Metal of Honor.
Bit Reactor’s Star Wars strategy game
This Star Wars strategy game is one of three that are in development that will be announced in the beginning of 2022. This game is being made in collaboration with Respawn, and former XCOM art director Greg Foertsch. The focus will be on tactics here.
Remake of Knights of the Old Republic
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was a major hit. A full remake is due soon from port specialist Aspyr and it will be available for both PS5 and PC. The old game was story-focused and single-player RPG style which stands the test of time – or till the new remake launches.
Star Wars: Eclipse
The upcoming Star Wars: Eclipse is set in the High Republic era by Heavy Rain Quantic Dream, developer of Detroit: Become Human. The game will be set in an unexplored period in Star Wars lore, at least for video games. Quantic Dream is known for offering a unique gameplay and narrative style that will make it different to any other Star Wars game.
Star Wars: Hunters
Developed by Zynga, this is a unique take on Star Wars franchise. The game will only be available to mobile devices and Nintendo Switch. This third-person arena action game lets you play as a wide variety of character archetypes, including Jedi, Wookies, and Stormtroopers.
Ubisoft’s Star Wars Project
This is in development at Massive Entertainment, the same studio behind The Division and its sequel. This game will make use of the Snowdrop engine and it will be set in an open world with a focus on narrative.
