Twisted Metal Series Starring Anthony Mackie Finds Home on Peacock

Twist and Shout

The Twisted Metal series has been a wild ride of a franchise. Between the mid 90s and early 2010s, it was PlayStation’s over-the-top vehicle combat game. The last game, Twisted Metal 4 was release in 2012, so it has been more than ten years since fans have had a proper twisting.

To the delight of fans, the series has been making a resurgence behind the scenes. Not only is there supposedly a new game coming out, but a live-action Twisted Metal TV series is in the works. Today, it was announced that this show would be broadcasted on the NBCUniversal streaming service Peacock.

The show will be starring Anthony Mackie, who you may know as Falcon and the new Captain America in the MCU, as well as his role in Altered Carbon. Mackie plays John Doe, who drives a milk truck. He has a classic case of the protagonist’s amnesia and enters the Twisted Metal contest in hopes of finding where he belongs.

The Twisted Metal show has been in development since September 2021. However, at this point, we do not know just how far into development it is. Last we heard, the show will supposedly premier in 2023.

Hopefully, we will hear more news about casting soon. It would be nice to see who plays some of the iconic characters of the video games, like Calypso or Sweet Tooth. Twisted Metal will be streaming on Peacock.
