The game currently has 48 courses. With that said, the expansion pass will be doubling the number of courses available by the time the waves finish rolling out in 2023.

Players can access the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass for free when they get a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership. However, fans can also purchase it on its own for $24.99.

As part of the first wave, players will be getting access to iconic courses, such as the Choco Mountain from Mario Kart 64, the Coconut Mall from Mario Kart Wii, and the Tokyo Blur from the Mario Kart Tour. The first wave is launching on March 18th. Moreover, pre-orders for the upcoming DLC begins today in the Nintendo eShop.

Mario Kart fans may have been expecting devs to reveal a new title. After all, Mario Kart 8 launched for the Wii U back in 2014. Considering that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe currently holds the title of being the top-selling Switch game, it only makes sense that devs want to stick with the game’s current version.

Generally, adding remastered courses from previous installments is not new to the series. It has been standard practice within the franchise since 2001’s Mario Kart: Super Circuit for the Game Boy Advance.
