Dying Light 2 Devs Want Players to Hold Off Playing Until Official Launch
Dying Light 2 is coming out on February 4th. As what happens sometimes, some retail copies found their way to the hands of a select few earlier. However, Techland has asked their fans if they could hold off playing until they officially launch the game to the market.
“We see that some of you got an access to the retail copies of Dying Light 2 before the release date,” the devs wrote on social media. “We kindly ask you to wait until February 4th as by that time you will also get access to all improvements and fixes we have implemented within the last weeks and will introduce with the day 1 patch.”
Although the devs “could not be happier” with the community’s enthusiasm when it comes to exploring what their game has to offer, they want everyone to be able to enjoy the game in its finest form. “That is the way to experience Dying Light 2 the way it is meant to be played,” they added.
Despite their pleas, however, it is likely that a huge portion of the Dying Light 2 community might go ahead and play their retail copies. After all, they have long been waiting for this title to finally come out.
It remains unclear how widespread the leak was or on what platforms. However, multiple sources have cited that the retail copies that came out earlier than scheduled were for console editions. This is not entirely surprising, considering that consoles are far more retail-reliant than PC.
The devs have not provided any comments on how the leak happened, too. It may have been an honest mistake.
Amidst Techland’s plea, some Dying Light 2 fans have urged the devs to simply release the full game now.
