Sniper Elite 5 Is Introducing New Invasion Mode
Sniper Elite 5 seems to be drawing a little bit of inspiration from Deathloop. Deathloop being an absolutely fantastic game, this certainly isn’t a bad thing. Yes, Sniper Elite 5 is looking to adapt the invasion system. It is certainly an interesting idea, and I’m interested to see how it is implemented.
Invasion Mode is set to bring a who new dimension to the sniping in Sniper Elite 5. Invasion Mode is exactly what it sounds like. The player will have to deal with an invading player whose sole purpose is to kill the player they have invaded.
That should add another dimension of strategy the player will have to keep in mind. It sounds like a fun mechanic, and it works quite well in Deathloop. It is a mechanic I’m more than happy to see in more games. Hopefully, it is pulled off well in Sniper Elite 5.
Chris Kingsley, CTO at Rebellion, had this to say:
“Invasion Mode is a fantastic addition to the gameplay experience of Sniper Elite 5. A human-controlled invader can act in ways that are so diverse and unpredictable, which adds to the challenge and ramps up the tension even further. The player will be informed that an invading Axis Sniper has joined their game, and from that point on, it becomes an extremely intense, high stakes game of cat and mouse.”
I have to say I agree. It is hard to strategize against a human-controlled player. It is so different from an NPC. You never really know what they are going to do. Having the occasional human sniper to deal with will add some dynamic action to the game that should be fun.
Sniper Elite 5 is launching later this year for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC, PS4, and PS5.
