Game Pass Just Continues To Grow
Yeah, it is a little difficult to talk about Microsoft and Xbox without thinking about the Activision acquisition. Despite that, there is more Xbox news. Game Pass has just recently passed the 25 million mark. I’m sure that number is just going to go up and up, especially if Microsoft keeps making big moves.
It is clear that Xbox is going all-in on Game Pass. I can’t even imagine how many people will sign up just to have the latest Call of Duty titles every year. That brings incredible value to the service.
Microsoft had this to say on Game Pass and the Activision acquisition, “This acquisition will make Game Pass one of the most compelling and diverse lineups of gaming content in the industry. Upon close, Microsoft will have 30 internal game development studios, along with additional publishing and Esports production capabilities.”
That is a difficult statement to argue against. Games like Overwatch, World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, and Diablo all being available on Game Pass? That right there is great value, and that doesn’t include their current offer. Yeah, Game Pass is sure get some more subscribers.
I am a huge fan of Game Pass, and its growth excites me. I really wonder where Game Pass is going to be five years from now. At this rate, every game is going to be on it as Microsoft has bought the entire gaming landscape. Well, I hope that last part doesn’t come true. I would like some competition in the gaming industry.
Game Pass having 25 million subscribers is a great feat, and I wonder if PlayStation is going to counter it or keep going as is. Sony isn’t exactly struggling this gen as PS5s remain basically impossible for the average person to find. It’s safe to say Sony is going strong even without a Game Pass competitor. Either way, the future of gaming should be an interesting one.
