Alienware’s Concept Nyx Will Let Gamers Seamlessly Switch Screens
Today, Alienware announced a new and exciting upcoming project. Concept Nyx is targeted at one of modern gaming’s most frustrating challenges. Namely, Alienware wants to ease the pain of having multiple gamers competing to share their Wi-Fi bandwidth with their newest R&D project.
Alienware wants to simultaneously allow players in a household to easily access their full game library and play on any device they own. Concept Nyx will even allow players to seamlessly switch screens during gameplay.
This is how the company is advertising this new ambitious project. They are getting gamers to imagine a world where they are playing a game on their desktop, then handing it off to their roommates to continue to play on the living room TV without missing a beat.
While this does sound a little futuristic, Alienware has shared some details on how they plan to accomplish this. Namely, they will be looking at how high-performance game processing can be shared across a house’s local network.
The company claims Concept Nyx will take advantage of this local processing, which could allow lower latency, greater bandwidth and responsivness. This would notably solve a lot of the problems cloud gaming experiences while retaining its advantages.
Therefore, Alienware states that Concept Nyx aims to make gaming as seamless as possible. They even tease enabling four simultaneous game streams, with all players having access to their entire game library on any device they have in their house. All without weighing down the Wi-Fi.
Concept Nyx is still very much in its early stages of development. However, this new reality of gaming does not seem too far off. It also seems like the next logical step in the modern gaming experience. What are your thoughts? Share in the comments below.
