Festive Update Brings Loot and Character Skins to Overwatch
Overwatch’s annual holiday event, Winter Wonderland, kicks off today. The festive content update brings new cosmetics, weekly rewards and maps updated with holiday decorations. Several characters also get a new holiday skin and there are several game modes to try out.
From December 16 – January 6, players will be able to unlock many holiday-themed skins for their favourite characters. There are five new Legendary holiday skins available to players including Snowboarder Baptiste, Snoman Wrecking Ball, Ice Wraith Genji, Sleighing D.Va and the long-awaited Reindeer Osira. Each of these new skins can be acquired through loot boxes.
There will also be festive weekly challenges for players to complete through Quick Play, Competitive Play or the Arcade. Three weeks of challenges each end with an epic skin: Wooltide Tracer, Mistletoe Symmetra and Peppermint Bark Brigitte.
Overwatch is also bringing back several Winter Wonderland brawl events. This includes Freezethaw Elimination, a 4v4 brawl where players become frozen solid instead of dying. Players can then thaw their teammates to rejoin the battle. There’s Mei’s Snowball Offensive, a 6v6 brawl where everyone plays as Mei equipped with a single-fire super-powered snowball blaster.
Similarly, Snowball Deathmatch pits eight players against one another with three super-powered snowballs each. Last but not least, Yeti Hunter is a six-player brawl that sets five Meis against one Yeti that has Winston’s abilities. Can the Yeti survive the Meis that stand in their way?
Overwatch’s Winter Wonderland update, along with its first weekly challenge, is now live on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Which festive skin are you most excited to unlock this holiday season?
