Dark Souls Gets a New Board Game

Prepare for the Official Dark Souls Role-Playing Board Game

Steamforged Games, makers of board game versions of Resident Evil, Horizon Zero Dawn and more, have announced a new Dark Souls board game. This one will be a tabletop roleplaying game based on the acclaimed video game series. This is officially licensed from FromSoftware and Bandai Namco.

They have previously released a Dark Souls board game, but that was a cooperative dungeon crawling game. This version is a true roleplaying game version. However, we have no further information about the game at this moment. You can check out the teaser trailer below.

The cult classic action role-playing game’s tabletop version will surely capture the attention of the series’ fans everywhere. Following the original Demon’s Souls game, the spiritual successor Dark Souls came out in 2011 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The maddeningly hard RPG soon became widely popular, spawning two more sequels.

Players may want to prepare for some table-flipping if the board game is as challenging as its console counter part.

While we do not know exactly how the board game will work, previous RPG board games from Steamforged have been compatible with the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons. The collection of different dice in the above trailer would likely confirm this connection.
