TABLETOP EXPLOOOOOSIONS!
Canonically, Mister Torgue likes tabletop games (see Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep). As the face of several hyper-violent entertainment ventures, it makes sense that he would also make a board game. Borderlands: Mister Torgue’s Arena of Badassery has a Kickstarter that real badasses can contribute to.
Mister Torgue’s Arena of Badassery is a board game where players can work together to wipe the board of enemies, earning loot and cash. There are missions, bounties, and other special rules that might come into play in the arena.
The base game comes with four Vault Hunters from across the video game series; Mordecai, Salvador, Moze, and Amara, plus Bloodwing and Iron Bear companions. Some stretch goals have also added Lilith, Maya, Zer0, Claptrap, and Krieg, which come with a certain tier of contribution. The stretch goal that adds Brick has almost been reached.
Like the video games, in Mister Torgue’s Arena of Badassery, players can collect guns, grenades, shield, as well as level up. Each Vault Hunter has their own skill tree to fill out over the course of the game. Players will also face off against iconic enemies, like psychos, marauders, goliaths, all sorts of skags and even bosses, such as Nine Toes.
In just 15 minutes from the beginning of the campaign, the goal for this tabletop was reached. Just about $740,000 has currently been raised and there are still more than three weeks left to go.
Closer to the announcement of Borderlands 3, there was a Tiny Tina board game that had been announced, so this is not the first Borderlands tabletop game. The Kickstarter campaign for Borderlands: Mister Torgue’s Arena of Badassery will run until December 23rd.
