Intellivision Entertainment’s Games Are Some Weird Stuff

NFTs and Block Chains

Intellivision Entertainment has revealed some more information about its upcoming lineup of games for its upcoming console, the Amico. They are a bit on the strange side, to put it lightly.

The company has revealed that it will be releasing three different collections.

Collection one includes:

  • Evel Knievel
  • Dynablaster
  • Missile Command
  • Rigid Force Redux Enhanced

Collection two includes:

  • Evel Knievel
  • Dynablaster
  • Missile Command
  • Rigid Force Redux Enhanced

both collections are a bit expensive at $79.99 each, or you can get the complete bundle that includes all the games for $149.99.

The price seems a bit steep, but that isn’t the strange thing. No, not even close. These Collector’s Boxed Editions include unique 3-D lenticular cards, collectible coins for each game, and an RFID card that allows a digital download of the game once the title releases. Cards to download games are a bit strange, but it has been done before.

What makes these games more on the unique side is they are apparently NFTs and a part of a block chain.

I have several questions.

They are all why? Why would you do this? The answer is clear on reflection because it is trendy. Helping destroys the environment with NFTs is a popular thing to do so screw the consequences let’s just do it. I won’t lie, this type of stuff just kills any interest in this console I may have had. RFID cards, NFTs, and being a part of a block chain is just … weird.

Intellivision CEO Tommy Tallarico had this to say:

“Our goal was to take the best parts of traditional physical media, and the best parts of digital, and combine them into something very different and unique. I am confident that collectors will really enjoy this!”

The Amico is already trying a unique hook with their games. They want all of them to have co-op and be family-friendly. Games free of violence and profanity is unique! Making them NFTs? That is just trend-chasing. I don’t even fully know how that works here! Boxed editions are fully transferable because that’s something you have to worry about with this model.

You can buy these games now and they will ship now. For a console that isn’t released yet. A console that doesn’t even have a hard release date. They are just aiming for the end of this year.
