Grand Cathay Details and Unit Reveal Happening Tomorrow
Total War: Warhammer III will now release in early 2022, rather than by the end of 2021. In addition, Creative Assembly has announced a big reveal trailer for the much-anticipated faction Grand Cathay will release tomorrow at 3 PM BST.

We know this is disappointing, but the extra time means we can accomplish more than we could if we rushed to release this year.

Total War: Warhammer III will conclude the Total War Warhammer trilogy, Creative Assembly’s first foray into a non-historical fantasy setting. Although the release date is not known, today’s announcement also states that “The wait won’t be much longer,” so at most a few months delay from the original release date of sometime this year can be expected. The recent news does not come as much of a surprise, given the lack of promotional trailers and content.
The bad news was then somewhat alleviated with Creative Assembly’s second announcement – that a trailer of Grand Cathay would be released tomorrow. Ever since Cathay’s tease in the original Total War: Warhammer III cinematic announcement trailer, there has been a lot of anticipation and hype around the Chinese-themed race.
In addition to the short message “We won’t be staying quiet however, join us tomorrow for the global reveal of Grand Cathay” on Twitter, Creative Assembly has released a few more details on Discord. First, the reveal will be in the form of an in-engine cinematic trailer, like the Warhammer 2 race announcements. As expected, the trailer will reveal “a lot of units from Grand Cathay,” as well as a cryptic “something else” and “much more.” Finally, a Grand Cathay FAQ will release alongside the trailer.
