Final Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Character to Be Revealed on October 5

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Final Character Will Be Revealed on October 5th

The final character for Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be revealed on October 5th. This announcement was made by Nintendo themselves during the Nintendo Direct 2021 presentation. According to the announcement, the final DLC fighter will shown off by Director Masahiro Sakurai in a video stream in a dedicated October Nintendo event.

The final Mr. Masahiro Sakurai Presents will be live at 10am ET and will include the expected demonstration of how the new playable Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will work. This caps off months of related speculations and brings years of roster expansion to an end.

Once live, the new character will be the 82nd to join Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and will also round out the sixth and final slot in the Fighter Pass Vol. 2 DLC that actually began with Arms’ Min Min about a year ago. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fans are expecting that they will most likely arrive alongside other extras as part of the franchise’s Challenger Pack 11, cementing the game’s legacy as one of the most ambitious crossovers in the gaming world.

Sakurai himself confirmed just this June that there will be no other characters to be added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate after this upcoming final playable name, and that there will also be no third season pass.

Gathering all of these games—new and old—and compiling them into a single product is a task that has meant a lot to me,” Sakurai said. “Now that I think about it, it has been close to 10 years since Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS was in development.”

Sakura then added that he has actually been “working on this for a long time.” “You could call it my life’s work,” he said. “But, finally, the next DLC fighter will be the last one. There will not be any more after that.”
