NEO: The World Ends with You Releases on PC Today

Sequel To Classic JRPG Released As Epic Games Exclusive

The wait for NEO: The World Ends with You is now over for PC gamers, as the game has just been released today on the Epic Games Store.  As a sequel to the 2007 Nintendo DS game The World Ends with You, the game was previously released for the Nintendo Switch and Playstation earlier in the mid-Summer and has finally made its way over to PC.  Although the PC version of the game was originally promised to release in the Summer, it is now only finally being released in the end of September.

As NEO: The World Ends with You is released on the PC as an Epic Games Store exclusive, it can be expected for there to be at least a delay before the game releases on Steam – if it does at all.  So far, Square Enix has not given any word on whether NEO: The World Ends with You would be released as a timed exclusive or a permanent exclusive.  Going by the history of most third-party games, we can probably expect to wait for a year before the game makes its way over to Steam.

As a sequel to the classic Nintendo DS game, NEO: The World Ends With You returns to the urban setting of Shibuya with a new cast.  In addition, the sequel changes the gameplay from 2D world to a 3D cel-shaded visual art style.  The original combat – pin attacks performed by frantic touchscreen swiping and actions – is replaced.  Instead, while there still are unique pins in the game – over 300 in fact – each pin is assigned to a button, which will activate each pin upon a press.   Like the original game, pins each have their own cooldown.
