Wait, One of These Monkeys is a Lemur
Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania is on its way, and the team has just shared a new one-minute-long trailer designed to introduce–or reintroduce–the franchise’s six main characters. It might be short, but it’s a wild ride from start to finish, and it does a great job of establishing who’s who and what they can do.
The six characters being put under the spotlight in this video are AiAi, MeeMee, Baby, GonGon, Doctor, and YanYan, six adorable little monkeys with a lot of attitude. Each of them has different skills and specialties, but more importantly, they also have different tastes in fashion and furstyles. Gotta look your best when you’re rolling around the track at breakneck speeds.
AiAi is the carefree leader of the gang, a clever little primate who sports a fantastic hair swoop. MeeMee is his charming co-leader and wife, the always-positive heart of the group who collects flowers.
Baby is the child of AiAi and MeeMee, and despite his young age, he’s come equipped with a lightning-fast crawl and a high-tech visor. Just don’t mess around with his soother–this little monkey is prone to throwing tantrums that can be heard across the whole island.
GonGon and Doctor specialize in brawn and brains respectively, featuring unrivaled power and unrivaled ingenuity. GonGon is actually a gorilla, not a monkey, but he won’t let that stop him from helping out in the quest for more bananas.
Finally, there’s the fearless and well-dressed YanYan, a monkey martial arts master who is–once again–not actually a monkey. This tough little cookie is a ring-tailed lemur, making her the only playable character to sport a long, waggly tail.
It’s great to see the gang back in action. Here’s hoping Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania is just as fun as the three games it’s a remake of.
Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania will be available for PS4 and PS5 on October 5th, 2021.
