Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms Comes Out Next Month

Out of This Realm Kombat

While the games are largely considered really good, the Mortal Kombat movies are kind of hit or miss. There are live action movies and animated movies, but no matter your preference, you don’t really know what to expect. Last year, Warner Bros. released Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge on Blu-Ray and DVD. Apparently, people liked it enough to warrant a sequel, because in a couple of month’s time, Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms will also be coming to home media. A trailer for the movie was recently released.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms

As the name suggests, Battle of the Realms will be a large-scale conflict between Earthrealm, Netherrealm, Edenia, Outworld, Chaosrealm, and Orderrealm. In the trailer, we see all out battle with siege-like warfare, but it is suggested that that will be put aside in favor of a one-on-one tournament. In the first movie, Mortal Kombat was held by Shang Tsung, but he was just a pawn. In Battle of the Realms, it will be Shao Khan as the big bad. The cast is also expanding quite a bit from Scorpion’s Revenge. Other characters, like Stryker, Kung Lao, Jade, D’Vorah, Reiko, Kintaro, Li Mei, Cyrax, Sektor, and Smoke, will be joining a lot of the returning cast.

Though this trailer shows us quite a lot, we are expecting a red band trailer in a little while. It is Mortal Kombat after all. Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms is expected to come out on August 31st.
