Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin Reveals Post-Launch Roadmap and a New Trailer

The Game Isn’t Even Out Yet and They’re Talking Post-Launch Content

Some games slide into the background as the developers refuse to talk about them. Other games have a spotlight shone on them as the developers share absolutely every detail about these titles before they’ve even come out. It appears that Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is shaping up to be one of those games with a spotlight, not that we’re complaining. In the lead-up to the game’s release next week, Monster Hunter series Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and Director Kenji Oguro shared an hour-long video about where Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will be going after launch. Since the video contained a co-op gameplay showcase, a new story trailer, and a roadmap of future updates, the answer appears to be that it will be going hard.

The new trailer provides a look at most of the characters and some increasingly dramatic moments in the game, all while a thrilling instrumental track plays in the background. It does a great job of getting fans hyped for the game’s launch. After the launch, the video announces five additional free updates that will be adding a wide variety of cool stuff to Wings of Ruin. The first one is coming on July 15th and it’s bringing Monster Hunter Rise‘s Palamute in as a new rideable Monstie. We’re not gonna lie, we’re absolutely thrilled for a chance to ride this big fluffy puppy.

On top of that, players can also expect Title Update 2 to arrive on August 5th, when it will introduce a new co-op quest, new equipment, and Hellblade Glavenus and Boltreaver Astalos as new Monsties. Title Update 3 is scheduled for early September and will be adding Soulseer Mizutsune, Elderfrost Gammoth, and Oroshi Kirin, with Title Update 4 following later that month and adding Dreadking Rathalos and Molten Tigrex as Monsties. There will also be another new high-difficulty co-op quest coming in Title Update 4. Finally, Title Update 5 will arrive in October, bringing with it Silver Rathalos and Gold Rathian as well as a special mysterious monster that will feature in yet another high difficulty co-op quest. We can’t wait to learn more.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will be available on July 9th for PC and Nintendo Switch.
