Among Us Reveals Possible PlayStation Release Date

Is the Date on the PlayStation Database an Imposter?

The social game Among Us took the internet by storm this past year and gave us all something fun to do in quarantine. Now, this indie juggernaut is getting ready to do its tasks on the PlayStation, and we may finally have a release date. Console releases for the game were announced back in March and confirmed to still be coming in the Among Us roadmap shared during Summer Game Fest. According to the PlayStation Game SIze Twitter account, which keeps track of news and leaks, Among Us has officially been added to the PlayStation database, and the release date has been set for August 31st, 2021.

Of course, this does not guarantee that will be the game’s actual release date. We’re still living in the age of constant video game delays, after all, but even beyond that, developers often put in a placeholder release date for ports or updates they’re still working on. Developer Innersloth is a very small indie studio and it’s already hard at work on another new map, a new Hide and Seek mode, visor cosmetics, and achievements, among other things, so it’s entirely possible that this date was chosen at random. However, fans can still use it as a loose way to judge how far along the PlayStation port of Among Us is.

As we said, this should not be considered an official release date, but it is a very specific date to use as a placeholder. August 31st is only two months away, meaning that Innersloth must be fairly confident in how the PlayStation port is coming together. In the best-case scenario, we could see Among Us on PlayStation consoles by the end of the summer. Console editions of Among Us are expected to launch with some neat features and PlayStation users will get an exclusive Ratchet & Clankskin, hat, and pet to parade around with. Everyone else in the game will be so jealous.

Among Us is available on PC, Nintendo Switch, mobile, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, PS4, and PS5.
