Fallout 76 Locked and Loaded Update Is… Well, Locked and Loaded

Load Up the Loadout

Next month, Bethesda is coming out with the Locked and Loaded update in Fallout 76. On the surface, this update does not seem all that grand like the Steel Dawn update from a few months ago. However, it does add a bunch of improvements that players will surely enjoy. Most of the quality of life improvements revolve around having more options, particularly with CAMPs and SPECIAL stats. Bethesda put together a developer vlog to delve into what players can expect to do going forward in the Lock and Load update.

Fallout 76 Locked and Loaded Update

As it stands, players can only have one CAMP at a time. You can customize it, painstakingly design it, but should you ever want to relocate, you have to tear it down and move. That will no longer be the case when this new update launches. Though you will still only be able to have one CAMP active at a time, you will be able to save your CAMP as it is, deactivate it, and build a new CAMP in another location. If you want to switch CAMPs again, you can just reactivate that old CAMP just as it was, no rebuilding necessary. The Locked and Loaded update also increases the building budget, fast travel points, and CAMP locations.

In a similar vein of thinking, players will get more options with their SPECIAL stats. If you are a Charisma and Intelligence-heavy player, but want to know what playing Strength and Perception is like, you will be able to have SPECIAL loadouts. Just like having different loadout in Call of Duty or other games, Fallout 76 players will be able to switch between saved SPECIAL loadouts to try out different play styles. You could also swap them out strategically if a certain mission or challenge calls for different stats. All you need to do is visit a Punch Card station to manage your loadouts.

Those are the highlights of Locked and Loaded, but there are more finer details to come. The Public Test Server for Locked and Loaded is active now, but the update itself will officially launch on April 27th. Fallout 76 is available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
