A Hunk, A Prep, and a Demogorgon Walk Into a Bar
Dead by Daylight stands out from other PVP horror games by the sheer variety of different intellectual properties it works with. Whether you want to hunt players down as Freddy Krueger or run from Pyramid Head, it makes up for the relatively simple goals (compared to something like Friday the 13th, which is more varied) with fast-paced gameplay and the chance to go mano-a-mano with some of your favorite killers.
One of the intellectual properties is arguably Netflix’s greatest smash hits, Stranger Things, which focuses on the inhabitants of Hawkins, Indiana, a small town that just so happens to be the home to a former research station that has unfortunately opened a portal between dimensions, letting all manner of interdimensional nasties loose. The Stranger Things chapter was released in 2019, and came with two survivors, Steve and Nancy, and the monstrous Demogorgon as the killer, as well as introducing the Hawkins Lab map. All three characters are getting new cosmetics: Steve’s High School Hunk outfit and Nancy’s Days of Rose costume are both inspired by looks they wore in season one, while the Demogorgon’s Geo Mutation sees its skin becoming rocky.
All three cosmetics are out now, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot to be excited for over the coming months. We should be getting a new DLC chapter in early March, with a new killer and survivor but, if the past few chapters are anything to go by, perhaps a new map. Developers Behaviour also released a trailer for the upcoming tome, and this time around we’ll be discovering more about survivor Yui – a biker from Tokyo – and the villainous Nurse – who was driven insane by her work in a psychiatric ward and smothered everyone, and now has the ability to teleport short distances to attack.
