Thomas Was Alone Making Its Way To Nintendo Switch Next Month

Demo Available Now

Thomas Was Alone is an indie game success story if we’ve ever saw one. The game originally appeared as a browser game in 2010 before getting a full release for PC in 2012, and a multitude of other consoles since. Nowadays, ever successful indie game needs a release on the Nintendo Switch and Thomas Was Alone is finally getting its chance.

Developer Bithell Games announced last fall that the game would be making its way to the Nintendo hybrid console in early 2021, and it seems they will be sticking to that release window.

Bithell Games posted an announcement trailer to their YouTube channel earlier today officially assigning a release date of Feb. 19 –about 3 weeks from now.

The game is available to pre-order on Nintendo’s eShop right now and for those who have never experienced the game before –and we say experience because that’s truly what it is– there is a demo available for download right now.

The game will cost $9.99 USD, but can be pre-ordered at 20% off right now for $7.99.

You’ll want to play this game with the volume on as the simple puzzle platformer gameplay is overlapped with a story-driven narration.

You can find the description for the game, as well as the announcement trailer below:

“Thomas Was Alone is the award winning, critically acclaimed platformer about friendship and jumping and floating and anti-gravity. Guide a group of sentient rectangles through a series of obstacles, combining their skills to reach the end of each level.

Discover the story of the world’s first sentient AIs, and how they worked together to, well not escape… “escape” is a strong word. Perhaps “emerge” might be better. “Emerge” has an air of importance about it, while keeping the various plot twists and origin stories you’ll discover under wraps. We didn’t even mention the bouncing. That would be overkill.
