Who’s Single in Olive Town?
As we all know, half the appeal of any Harvest Moon-style farming life simulator is the NPCs and the relationships you can build with them. Especially the eligible bachelors and bachelorettes. Video game spouses are serious business, after all. The good news is that, with its wide variety of possible love interests, Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town definitely has the boy or girl of your dreams–though not, sadly, the non-binary shadow monster of your dreams. Stardew Valley still has a monopoly there. One day someone will make a farming life sim that lets you marry a spooky monster, but that day is not today. We’ll just have to content ourselves with cute party girls who love anthropology and aloof biker boys who love stargazing. Yes, both of those characters are in Olive Town, and yes, you can marry them.
Currently, XSEED Games has released info on 5 bachelors–aloof Damon, dependable Ralph, sociable Emilio, gentle Iori, and clever Jack–and 5 bachelorettes–energetic Reina, dreamer Blaire, business-minded Laura, lonesome Linh, and friend to all animal Bridget. Every one of them looks cute and fun to hang out with, which is a great starting point for any relationship.
There could be more marriage prospects added later, but we’re pretty pleased with what we’ve seen so far. Each character feels distinct, with their own goals, style, and way of speaking, and their likes and dislikes are clear. We can’t wait to get to know these guys and gals a little better. Especially Damon and Bridget. What can we say, we’re suckers for people who love animals.
Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town will be out on March 23rd exclusively for Nintendo Switch. The game’s standard edition will cost $49.99, but if you want some extra goodies, the Premium Edition is just ten bucks more at $59.99.
