Polish Authorities Are Investigating CD Projekt RED

CD Projekt RED Faces More Legal Trouble

Poland’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection has officially launched an investigation into CD Projekt RED regarding the questionable launch of Cyberpunk 2077. The investigation will look into the amendments or solutions to bugs, glitches, etc. in Cyberpunk 20777 in addition to what was promised versus what was delivered. Cyberpunk 2077 is available right now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, Google Stadia, and PC.

“We will check how the manufacturer is working on the introduction of amendments or solution to difficulties preventing the game (from working) on different consoles,” said Polish representative Malgorzata Cieloch. “But also how it intends to act in relation to the persons who filed complaints and are dissatisfied with their purchase due to the inability to play games on owned equipment despite previous assurances (that it would).” Should the investigation find CDPR guilty of what they’re being accused of, the Polish development studio could be fined 10% of its annual income.

According to a Polish attorney with insight into the investigation Dominik Jedrzejko, the necessary changes CD Projekt RED needs to make “may not be enough” due to the unfair market practice of releasing Cyberpunk 2077 as they did. This investigation from Poland’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection could result in a hefty fine for CD Projekt RED and the pending lawsuits against the Polish studio surely aren’t helping the studio through these hard times.
