Helheim Hassle Goes to Hell and Back on PS4

A Game About Friendship… and Body Parts

Everybody likes vikings, right? Don’t worry, we’re not gonna ramble about Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla again–this article is dedicated to a very different brand of viking. Specifically, an undead, pacifist viking. Quirky and macabre puzzle-platformer Helheim Hassle is back, and this time it won’t rest until it arrives on PS4. It launched to critical acclaim last year on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC, and more importantly, we liked it, so you should definitely give this witty buddy adventure of gore and dismemberment a shot. Don’t believe us? Just give this trailer a watch.

Players take on the role of Bjørn, the aforementioned pacifist viking, a guy who hates the idea of dying and going to Valhalla… who then ends up dying and getting taken to Valhalla, where he is surrounded by total assholes. When the mysterious Pesto, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, resurrects Bjørn to assist with a task, Bjørn leaps at the chance to talk his way out. Bjørn’s undying corpse has the ability to detach and combine limbs at will, which you must use to solve challenging puzzles and navigate tricky levels in order to retrieve a certain magical item. In exchange, Pesto will try to give Bjørn a permanent residence in the peaceful Helheim.

The press release announces that “Players will be tasked with completing up to 70 quests over 14 levels, requiring the use of all manner of different body part combos to complete the game’s unique puzzle-platforming challenges. On this adventure, players will come into contact with 80 different characters from all walks of life (and death) ranging from frustrated god souls, bear ghosts, dragons, elves, dwarves and blue-collar goblins; all voiced by 24 professional voice actors delivering 3,700 lines of spoken dialogue!”

That’s a lot of stuff to encounter on a cartoon-inspired romp. Ozan, Project Leader from Perfectly Paranormal, had this to say: “We think fans of gallows humor, physical comedy, and environmental puzzles will get a kick out of this madcap journey through the Norse underworld!”

Sounds like a good time to us!

Helheim Hassle will be available for PS4 on January 12th at $19.99/€16.79/£15.09.
