And Yes, There Will Be Amiibo Functionality
While it’s no Nintendo Direct, the Indie World Showcase is still an excellent crop of gaming news. Case in point, we’ve finally got a release date for Cyber Shadow. January 26th, 2021! That’s so much sooner than I was expecting, as I was not expecting a release date at all. On top of that, there will be amiibo functionality with the Nintendo Switch version!
In particular, if you’ve got Shovel Knight amiibo, then bust ’em out! As this is a Yach Club joint, their products will synergize with the game in question. No word yet on what these amiibo will unlock, beyond a floating Shovel Knight head. Does it dispense worldly wisdom? Power-ups? Snacks? We’ll have to wait and see.
If you’ve not yet heard of this strange game, picture an 8-bit homage to Ninja Gaiden. So, just imagine Ninja Gaiden. The sprite work is exceptional, especially given that the development team is one human being known on Twitter as MekaSkull. You can check out the announcement from Nintendo here.
