This 2019 Sleeper Hit is Still Going Strong
Some games hit hard and fade away quickly. Other games do the opposite. Remnant: From the Ashes is one of those titles which only seems to get more popular with age. Between the base game and its two premium DLCs, Swamps of Corsus and Subject 2923, this third-person action shooter has surpassed 2.5 million sales of all platforms. Yeah, we reported on its success before when it crossed 1 million sales, but we have a solid reason to share the good news: this awesome accolades trailer that just dropped. Also, there’s something about a Complete Edition that is now the defining way to play the game, but that can wait. Only trailer now.
Finished watching? Awesome, let’s move on. The 1 million sales mark was celebrated with a new Hardcore Mode, but this milestone is just getting the Complete Edition and a heartfelt thank you. David Adams, President of Gunfire Games, had this to say about Remnant‘s success: “This game started off as a passion project. To see it grow into an epic franchise, enjoyed by millions of gamers, is both exciting and humbling.”
Frankly, we’re not surprised it took off. Remnant‘s brutal Soulsborne-esque gameplay, post-apocalyptic setting, and creepy monster aesthetic are striking and memorable. Everything about the Root drips with menace, sometimes literally, and the addition of Hardcore Mode gives the truly dedicated the chance to risk everything–as in, your character gets completely deleted if you die–for great rewards. Though Subject 2923 is reportedly the game’s final DLC expansion, it can’t be denied that Remnant has made its mark. We’re looking forward to seeing what Gunfire Games does next.
