Ms. Marvel Disney+ Series Has Found its Kamala Khan

Embiggen

Disney and Marvel’s MCU is the largest connected series in film. It has branched out to television with varying degrees of success. The Netflix shows have had generally mixed reviews and have come to an end, Agent Carter was cancelled after two season, Agents of SHIELD has also just hit its series finale, and Inhumans… Well, we don’t talk about that show. The shows debuting on Disney+ appear to be very promising however. Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Wanda Vision, and Loki are all direct continuations with characters from the movies, but there are shows with characters making their own debut.

Ms. Marvel Disney+

Recently, the She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel Disney+ shows have announced their castings of the titular characters. In September, Marvel cast Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters AKA She-Hulk. Yesterday, it was revealed that Canadian actress Iman Vellani would be portraying Kamala Khan AKA Ms. Marvel in her own show. As Marvel fans are well aware, Ms. Marvel is one of the main and playable characters in Marvel’s Avengers, which came out last month. Kamala Khan is well-known as Marvel’s first Pakistani-American Muslim character to have her own comic book and Iman Vellani herself is the daughter of parents who are Pakistani Muslim immigrants to Canada.

Vellani’s role as Ms. Marvel will extend beyond the Disney+ series and into the MCU films. The question is, just how connected will the worlds be. We know that Kalama Khan is a superfan of Captain Marvel, played by Bree Larson. Will we see Larson in the Ms. Marvel show? Will Vellani be in the next Captain Marvel movie? Your ol’ pal Zane is definitely excited to see. Ms. Marvel is expected to start streaming in 2022, exclusively on Disney+.
