The Rich Universe That Is Serious Sam
Serious Sam 4, the latest entry in a franchise about making aliens explode, just dropped a story trailer! I always forget these games have a narrative of any sort. It just gets in the way of all the mowing-downs and the cheerful expletives, you know? Anyways, said trailer is embedded below.
For those of you looking to jump into the series, apparently this game is first, chronologically speaking. If nothing else, this means that you don’t need too much prior knowledge to start your Serious Samming. Also, the Ark of the Covenant is an alien artifact? Lot of fun theology implications wrapped up in that detail.
Beyond the ridiculous, delightful narrative, the action looks like all you’re hoping for. The acting and the alien murder all fall nicely in line with Serious Sam standards, and the increased enemy limit is very promising. In case you missed that tidbit, the devs at Croteam have boosted it so up to ten thousand enemies can be on screen at once. These games are already a lot, but ten thousand? Let’s hope the item drops are very generous. Serious Sam 4 is coming to PC and Google Stadia on September 24th, 2020.
