Hood: Outlaws and Legends Is Multiplayer With a Twist

Is There Honour Among Thieves?

One of the standouts of PlayStation’s August state of play was Hood: Outlaws and Legends, a new IP coming to both PlayStation and Xbox. Although we didn’t learn much about the gameplay from the short trailer (which, frankly, looks gorgeous), the basic storyline should be evident from the name alone- or, at least, you can figure out how they got the name based on the story.

Hood: Outlaws and Legends is a PvPvE (Or Player vs Player vs Everyone if you’re nasty) game that pits two teams of four players against each other in order to pull off a heist. Taking inspiration from the story of Robin Hood, the game is set in Medieval times, and you’ll need to not only take down the opposing team, you’ll need to execute the heist and take down any guards that stand in your way.

The trailer also shows a glimpse of the different characters who, presumably, will by playable characters. We have no names yet but there’s a badass thief girl who seems to fill the role of a rogue, a hooded archer who’ll doubtless specialize in ranged combat, a bald guy with a flail who seems to provide the muscle (not only is his go-to weapon a literal iron ball attached to a chain, he’s strong enough to hold open a portcullis) and a redheaded guy with a big hammer, who’s role is hard to determine based on the video.

There’s also some magic in the trailer (Note the blue glow in the arrow around the 90 second mark) but as of yet we don’t know how this will be incorporated into gameplay.

What did you think of Hood: Outlaws and Legends? Do you think Robin Hood really existed? Let us know down in the comments.
