Hive officially released Aggretsuko: Short Timer Strikes Back Today On App Store and Google Play
As of today, you can play a mobile Aggretsuko game on your phone. If you are not familiar with Aggretsuko, you might want to head over to Netflix. Aggretsuko is a Netflix original anime cartoon about a female red panda, Retsuko, who works in an accounting department and loves death metal. The show follows Retsuko as she interacts with her frustrating superiors and annoying co-workers. To avoid conflict, Retsuko bottles up her frustration with her job and releases it by singing death metal at a karaoke bar.
The game is a puzzle game where you match three puzzle pieces. It is similar to games such as Candy Crush. The goal of the new game is to clear puzzle pieces to collect stars, which you can use to decorate an office. This makes the game more like Candy Crush crossed with TinyTower. The key feature about this game that will appeal to fans of Aggretsuko is that the game includes 100 episodes that have aired in Japan. Each clip will be unlocked as you progress through the game.
Including clips of the show is a great move. In the past, we have seen other mobile games based on popular shows, such as Simpsons Tapped Out, but they did not include any media from the show. I found that it disconnected the game from the aspects that make you love the characters.
If part of you is wondering how a death metal red panda could be so adorable, it is because the show was created by the same people who created Hello Kitty. They wanted to target their grown-up audience with a character who frustrated working professionals could relate to. The character is still as cute as Hello Kitty, but much like her fans, she is darker, more self-aware, and less girly.
