The Last of Us 3? Something Else?
Neil Druckmann, The Last of Us 2’s director, isn’t totally sure where the company’s going next. This might not be a huge surprise, given how not out the newest game still is, but you’ve gotta be looking forward, you know? Druckmann has yet to make that choice, however.
Okay, so he is thinking about it, he just hasn’t set anything in stone. Druckmann stated that “my mind can’t help but think about the next thing.” Even if he lands on a new TLOU, there are other considerations to be made. Is it set in America? Somewhere in Europe? Does it feature any of the same characters? The fans have plenty of ideas, of course. While there are plenty of good reasons to stick with established people and their stories, a whole new venture has its own perks.
Or maybe Naughty Dog goes a totally different way! Perhaps it’s time for a new IP, something disconnected from The Last of Us or Uncharted. But first, there’s that Last of Us TV show to work on. Druckmann is helping write the show along with Craig Mazin, which will surely be the focus for some time yet. The Last of Us Part II is coming to PS4 on June 19th, 2020.
