There May Be a Steam Loyalty Rewards Program in the Works

Your Loyalty Will Be Remembered

I’ve said it since day one, that competition from the Epic Games Store will force Steam to improve the quality of its service. All the voices in my head called me crazy, but who’s laughing now? Well, it is not official yet, but there are rumblings of a Steam Loyalty Rewards program being made by Valve. These rumors come from a developer of SteamDB, which is a database of all updates and implementations of different features to Steam. Pavel Djundik posted his findings on Twitter of this supposed rewards program.

Steam Loyalty Rewards Program

According to Djundik, this program will be based on a Steam user’s interaction with the service. There will be new reactions to user reviews that contribute points toward things like badges and maybe even game discounts. He posted an image of the new reactions he found by datamining. These reactions are designated as Deep Thoughts, Heartwarming, Hilarious, Hot Take, Poetry, and xHelpful. xHelpful would likely be dual-variations on the helpful/not helpful reactions to user reviews that we already see on Steam.

Unfortunately, there are really no details given about how this loyalty program grows for each user or how we could get in on the game discounts. Steam already has sales every other few minutes, so would these discounts stack? If this is legit, then we have something to look forward to. After all, Steam will need to keep shelling out new features if it wants to stay on top.
