No New Titanfall Games Are Coming Any Time Soon
Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order have kept Respawn Entertainment on the map in recent years but Titanfall, the title that started it all, has been dormant. CEO of Respawn Entertainment, Vince Zampella has confirmed that the team is currently not working on a Titanfall game. While there won’t be a Titanfall 3 any time soon, seasoned fans will recognize many aspects of Apex Legends are inspired by the mech shooter. Titanfall 2 is the most recent installment in the franchise and it’s available for Xbox One, PS4 and PC now, having been included as a freebie for Xbox Live Gold and PlayStation Plus in the past.
When speaking with IGN, Vince Zampella claimed, “there’s nothing currently in development, but it’s always there. You see the little bits of stuff coming back [through Apex Legends]. At some point, I would personally like to see some kind of resurrection there. We’ll see if I can make that happen.” While we’re fans of Apex Legends, we’re with Zampella in hoping to see a resurrection of the Titanfall franchise. According to Zampella, the relationship between EA and Respawn Entertainment is mostly hands-off and relaxed which illustrates the publishers faith in the developer.
Apparently Respawn Entertainment will have more to share during the next EA Play event, but it’s safe to say that the studio is working on the next Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order title. Apex Legends just entered season 5, bringing with it loads of new content and map changes to the game. “We’ve got a bunch of people that love to make games and love what they do.” said Vince Zampella when talking about the Respawn Entertainment team.
