The Elder Scrolls: Blades Officially Lands on the Nintendo Switch
The Elder Scrolls: Blades has officially released for free on the Nintendo Switch eShop. For dedicated fans, there’s a Quick Start Edition available for $14.99 that gives gamers 30,000 Gold, scrolls, exclusive armor, a weapon, 2000 Gems and materials. Blades was originally released for mobile devices but the Nintendo Switch release marks the first console version of the title. Cross-save and crossplay are both enabled on The Elder Scrolls: Blades, allowing people to easily move from playing on iOS and Android to the comfort of Nintendo’s hybrid console. To take Blades online for PvP battles, gamers will need to subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online for $19.99 per year.
While The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is also available for the Nintendo Switch, The Elder Scrolls: Blades is less of an RPG and more of a dungeon crawler. Due to the limitations of mobile, Bethesda created a more streamlined title in Blades and although Skyrim runs on the hybrid Nintendo console, this release brings more Elder Scrolls title to the platform. Nintendo Switch gamers can embark on quests, kill enemies, collect loot and complete dungeons at their own pace with The Elder Scrolls: Blades.
Due to the mobile optimization, The Elder Scrolls: Blades includes timers that require gamers to wait for things such as customizing a city. These timers were easily bypassed by purchasing in-game currency through mobile stores and considering the free version of Blades on the eShop, this will likely continue on the hybrid console. While we prefer The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, this is a nice addition of more Elder Scrolls to the Nintendo Switch library while we anticipate more news about The Elder Scrolls VI.
