Trademark Filings Show Off the Potential Xbox Series X Logo
According to Justia trademark filings, Microsoft may have officially decided on a logo for the Xbox Series X. The logo is a pretty plain text of “series” climbing vertically, with a large X standing alongside it, with some pieces in the middle taken out similar to the Dota 2 logo. While the trademark filings don’t officially leak the logo, it gives Xbox fans an idea of what to expect from the next-gen Microsoft console’s logo. The Xbox Series X is expected to releases during the holiday season, with Halo Infinite launching with the next-gen console.
While the X is considered a “stylized letter” in the trademark patent, the Series X logo shows a very plain font for the word “series.” This could potentially be hinting at the unannounced Lockhart model, with the X being interchangeable with an L or several other letters and numbers. Though there have been rumors about the Lockhart model for a long time, Microsoft fans only officially have the Series X to look forward to this holiday season.
The Series X logo wasn’t strictly trademarked for usage on the units themselves and promotional material for the next-gen console, but there are filings for the usage of the logo on merchandise, clothing, sporting equipment, jewelry, toys and more. While it’s unlikely we’ll see a Series X action figure when the console releases, it’s interesting to see it included as one of the items in the trademark filing. Mat Booty recently announced that the next-gen console is releasing this holiday season despite the COVID-19 pandemic, claiming that all parties involved have been impacted but remain on track.
