This Could Be Para-Para-Paradise
As Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ release date draws closer, Nintendo’s promotional game ramps up. Animal Crossing veterans generally know what they are getting into with a new game, so the videos and trailers are mostly focusing on the new features and big improvements to the series with the new installment. Like the less recent video, the new Animal Crossing: New Horizons trailer from yesterday is showcasing just a taste of what you can do to “create your own paradise.” The newest expansion to customization concerns the players’ outdoor area, so we are seeing what we can do to really make the island an individualized place.
A really cool thing that players can do in New Horizons is terra-forming. Not like changing the chemical make up of the atmosphere, but using landscaping tools. Players can build bridges, pave walkways, and even widen rivers and waterfalls. Think of the possibilities! You can transform your island into a collection of tiny islands or create your personal mountain range. Maybe not like Mount Rushmore, but something cool. My question is, will players start out with randomized islands or a default one? We only need to wait another week or so to find out.
Another trailer released a few days ago shows just how specific players can be with their own designs. Many games that allow for customization allow you to dress your characters. New Horizons is taking it a step further. Not only are hair and outfit options available regardless of player gender, but things like wallpaper designs can be designed down to the pixel. Players can make their own patterns for their home, or choose from the default options that still give their home a distinct and unique feel. Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be out exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on March 20th.
