The Next Call of Duty is Going to be a Battle Royale According to Rumors

Just When You Thought the Genre Was Dying Out

The Call of Duty franchise has seen a massive resurgence in the last year. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was a huge success and now Call of Duty: Warzone has just released and has made huge waves. It looks like Activision has gone all-in when it comes to the battle royale genre. Warzone has already amassed more than 15 million players so far and that number is only going to grow. Despite the achievements of Warzone, rumors are now swirling that the next Call of Duty is also going to be a battle royale game as well.

2021 will be Sledgehammer Studio’s turn to make a game. According to rumors, there was a leak that has confirmed that this next COD will be a battle royale just like Warzone. The well known and often reliable Call of Duty YouTube channel TheGamingRevolution has just released new information that would point in that direction. This battle royale is supposedly going to be another spin-off and also free to play.

It is always good to keep in mind that these are still only rumors at this point. No one at Sledgehammer has confirmed these claims. It could all turn out to be false info. It would not be the first time that rumors on the internet turned out to be false.

If these rumors do turn out to be true, expect fans to be very upset. The COD formula has worked since the early 2000s and it has not stopped selling games since. If Activision really does decide to turn Call of Duty into a battle royale game, heads are going to roll. Everyone likes Warzone, but no one wants to see it replace COD.
