“The Greatest RPG of All Time”
Much like PS Plus, Xbox Gold is the online service that Microsoft has offered up to its premium users. Xbox Gold will net you a selection of free games every month to choose from. While these titles can vary in terms of genre and quality, every once in a while a real gem pops up. This April Xbox fans will have the privilege of being able to play the original Fable.
While Fable might have become a bit of a meme at this point, let us not forget that at one point in time it was viewed as a very serious Xbox exclusive that was pulling people in the direction of the original console. Don’t let the failings of later Fable games make you look in the other direction. Gold users will be able to download Fable Anniversary from April 1st until April 15th. Seeing as there is not a whole going on right now due to most of the world being in lockdown, you’ll be able to hop on right away and start playing.
Fable Anniversary will provide players with all of the DLC. These expansions are regarded as some of the best in recent memory and add a ton of new gameplay depth to the vanilla game as well as expand on the already impressive story and narrative-driven world. Not to mention the graphics have been modernized. 2004 was a great year for games, but the visuals will not be missed.
Fable is not the perfect game and is certainly far from the perfect franchise, but it still does hold a certain amount of charm and likability. If you are looking for an RPG that has aged quite well all things considered, then make sure to get your hands on Fable while you still can.
Rumor has it that there could be another Fable game in the works for the Xbox Series X.
