Giant Infection Removed From Modern Warfare for Having Too Much XP
Part of a recent content update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare includes the removal of Giant Infection because the game mode was rewarding too much experience. Giant Infection is a bigger version of the Infected game mode, which turns certain players into fast, knife-wielding maniacs, who turn others into the same when they slay them. When this mode is giant, more players are placed into larger maps to compete for survival or utter destruction. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available for PS4, Xbox One and PC right now, but don’t expect easy Giant Infection XP anymore.
Developers at Infinity Ward quickly discovered that Giant Infection was awarding players more XP than intended, perhaps due to the Modern Warfare Reddit community sharing the exploit amongst themselves. The mode has since been disabled as part of the content update until the issue is resolved by Infinity Ward. Considering XP gain affects the Battle Pass progression, it’s not a huge surprise to see Infinity Ward remove the mode until they’re able to change the XP gain in the mode.
Infinity Ward took to their official Twitter account to say, “The Giant Infection playlist was giving out a little too much XP, so we just rolled out a playlist update to remove the mode while we work on a fix.” The Ground War playlist with Realism rules and no tanks was unaffected by the recent content update, leaving Giant Infection the key feature being tweaked by Infinity Ward. It’s unknown if gamers who utilized the huge XP will be docked for it later or not but gamers won’t be able to level up easily using the same methods anymore.
