Sony Unveiled the Next-Gen PS5 Logo at CES 2020
During Sony’s CES 2020 press conference, they unveiled the new PS5 logo which will be embedded in the next-generation PlayStation console. The logo strongly resembles the last two generation of PlayStation consoles, maintaining the classic feel of the PS3 with the lower half of the five mimicking the bottom half of the three. Although Sony didn’t show off the design of the new console or any new titles they’re working on, we’re glad to see some PlayStation news making its way to CES 2020. CES 2020 is running from Sunday, January 5th to Friday, January 10th so expect to see more from the event in the following days.
With the design of the new PS5 logo, Sony Interactive Entertainment president and CEO Jim Ryan took to the stage to say: “There’s much more to share about PlayStation 5 in the months ahead, and we look forward to revealing more details, including the content that will showcase the platform and the future of gaming.” We’re looking forward to seeing all of the upcoming next-generation news for both of the platforms releasing in holiday 2020 and all of the games that will accompany them. The Sony Twitter account celebrated the PS5 logo unveil with a text cartoon followed by, “see you this holiday..”
Not only at CES 2020 to unveil their new PlayStation logo, Sony also announced impressive sales numbers from this generation’s PS4. The platform sold 106 million units, 1.15 billion games, 5 million PSVR units, 38.8 million PS Plus subscribers and has a whopping 103 million active users. Considering most PlayStation owners are apparently active users, there don’t seem to be very many offline gamers at all. With numbers like these, it’s likely Sony’s success in the console market will continue through next-gen.
