Analysts Continue Teasing a 4K Nintendo Switch Pro
As part of Games Industry’s predictions for 2020, industry analyst Serkan Toto claimed with absolute certainty that Nintendo will release a 4K resolution Switch model which is currently rumored as the Switch Pro. Apparently the console will include superior hardware compared to current models that will be able to produce 4K quality visuals. The biggest issue with Toto’s prediction is the statement that the new unit will take larger cartridges, which would divide the Nintendo player base which is something the Switch Lite never did. The console is rumored to cost $399 which is quite affordable for a 4K device.
According to Serkan Toto, “there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Nintendo will launch a “Switch Pro” in 2020, my guess is at $399. More specifically, I predict 4K support, bigger cartridge sizes, and of course beefed-up components. I also think the device will launch after the summer holidays to counter the roll-out of the PS5 and next-gen Xbox later in the year – along with a first-party, system-seller game.” While we’re interested in seeing a Switch unit that performs better, we won’t get our hopes up on a 2020 release considering Nintendo hasn’t announced anything 4K officially.
Rumors have circulated about the Nintendo Switch Pro since the Wall Street Journal spoke with a similar certainty as Serkan Toto about its production. Mat Piscatella from NPD claims alongside Serkan Toto’s bold proposal that the Nintendo Switch will continue to dominate the console market throughout 2020 despite spending on gaming decreasing year-over-year. Despite Google Stadia falling on its face for release, Toto is certain that cloud gaming will make a rebound with xCloud.
Do you think that the Nintendo Switch will be getting a pro model or is it wishful thinking? What do you want to see next from the Switch family? Let us know in the comments below!
