Coming This January
11 Bit Studios has properly revealed the next DLC for Frostpunk, The Last Autumn. Scheduled for release this January, the expansion tells the story of life before all that pesky snow got in everyone’s way. Surely this ominous tale will have a happy ending, right?
The story, as described in the trailer embedded below, follows an expedition as it attempts to outrun what will surely be a minor weather inconvenience. If the title wasn’t a dead giveaway, this is unlikely to go well for our plucky citizens. Although honestly, playing even the tiniest fraction of Frostpunk proper should have clued you in to just how doomed these people are.
If nothing else, this expansion will provide some critical insight into the cataclysmic hubris that accompanied mankind’s slow descent into icy extinction. Along with all that tasty foreknowledge, players will have access to new buildings, technologies, and Books of Law. The third expansion, as of yet unnamed, will also be coming out sometime in 2020. It will be a great year for connoisseurs of slow, irrevocable decay. Frostpunk: The Last Autumn is set for release on January 21st, 2020 for PC. The expansions will be coming to consoles as well, merely at a later date.
