Just In Time For Something To Be Announced at The Game Awards
This time last year, several prominent influencers and streamers received Bandicoot-shaped cookies from Activision. It was a lovely, confusing gesture that directly preceded a new game announcement – Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled, to be exact. This year, seven influencers have received Crash Bandicoot mystery gifts as well.
To that end, one plausible conclusion is that we’ll be getting a new Crash game announcement at this year’s Game Awards. It’s not exactly set in stone, but there’s a precedent at work. If not at The Game Awards, then perhaps the next State of Play event? Either one would line up nicely with this year’s weird batch of Crash presents.
So what could this next game be? The previous couple of releases were sequels and/or remasters. Does this mean that the next Crash Bandicoot game will be something actually new? Or will Activision continue solemnly milking that nostalgia cow until its udders turn to dust? Honestly, either answer wouldn’t be surprising at all. Also, in case you were curious, none of the presents given out this year give any indication of what they’ll be announcing. Just a hodgepodge of cool Crash mystery gifts.
