It Might Be You Who Gets Taken Down
For a few days, the first of hopefully many Borderlands 3 Takedowns has been live. If this is the first you are hearing of it, a Takedown is a repeatable mission designed for endgame content. During it, players will face off against max level enemies and bosses. It is heavily recommended that it is attempted with four players, all at level 50 with Legendary gear, because difficulty does not scale and does not discriminate. They are kind of raids. The Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite is our first taste of this feature.
Because this is the first time players will be taking a shot at something like this, Gearbox has graciously put out a “guide” to this Takedown. There are a few differences players will face in Takedowns. First, YDYD; ya dead, ya dead. This means if you die, you will not respawn until your team beats the one of the bosses. There is a boss halfway through, and one at the very end. So, if you go down, the only way to get back into the fight is for someone to pick you up or to get a Second Wind.
While that may sound daunting, there are big rewards for completing the Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite. There are weapons, shields, a weapon skin, a ECHO skin, and room decoration that are exclusive to this Takedown, so you should still give it a try. Just don’t expect to beat it in a few minutes. This Takedown is expected to take between 30 and 45 minutes, so make time. You don’t want to be that guy who has to duck out in the middle of a firefight.
