Did the Director of Days Gone Just Drop a Hint for a Sequel?

Turns out There’s Plenty Left to Explore in the World of Days Gone

Earlier this year, back in April, Sony Bend’s PS4 exclusive Days Gone was released and though it might not have been critically acclaimed, fans absolutely loved it. So much so that it earned the Golden Joystick award for best PlayStation 4 game of the year. Not only that, it’s also the best-selling exclusive on the console too. So can fans expect a sequel? If this latest hint is anything to go by, it’s definitely way more likely now than ever before.

Days Gone

Following the recent Golden Joystick Awards Chris Reece, studio director for Sony Bend, expressed his gratitude to the fans for all the recognition Days Gone has received since its released. Here’s what he had to say, “It’s awesome, because there was so much dedication and hard work from the team, and this is kind of the final payoff for that. To see the players actually engage with the game and really enjoy the passion that we put into it, to see that come back, it’s awe inspiring.”

As you might imagine, given the fan response to the title, the studio wants to continue exploring the world of Days Gone. When talking to GamesRadar he seemed to hint at the possibility of an upcoming sequel. “Oh yeah, it is certainly a passion of ours, and that’s what we’ve always wanted to do. This is a world that we want to keep breathing more life into, and explore many, many different avenues. So who knows, we’ll see!”

And while a sequel has not yet been confirmed, this comes as the second hint that suggests a Days Gone 2 is in the works. You might recall a job listing that was discovered from Sony Bend back in June revealing that the studio’s next game was already being developed.
